Hi, I’m Richard Ayuyang
I'm a professor at Cagayan State University – Gonzaga. Over the years I've built and looked after systems for the campus and for the local municipal government — learning management, document routing, a library catalog, file sharing — self-hosted, on open-source software.
I teach IT at Cagayan State University – Gonzaga Campus and look after the systems side of the campus: the learning platform, document routing, the library catalog, file storage. Most of it exists because a paper process became a problem worth solving.
This site is where I document that work — the projects themselves, the research that comes out of them, and notes on what I learn keeping everything running.

Document routing for CSU-Gonzaga: memos and requests move between offices with a tracked status instead of a logbook.

Koha ILS for the CSU-Gonzaga library — catalog, circulation, and OPAC, replacing card-based records.
Project detailsSome of the university work carried over to the town next door: the same document-management approach, the same self-hosted setup.
Low running cost. No license fees and no subscriptions. If a system dies, we can rebuild it from config and backups.
Data stays on-site. Student and government records sit on servers we run, not a third party's — which also keeps us on the right side of the Data Privacy Act.
No lock-in. Standard formats and open-source software, so the next administrator can take over without buying anything.
Written down. Each deployment gets documentation so the system survives me being away.
